Letter from the Director - January 2023

Dear Friends,

It has been a while since I have posted a letter on our blog. Due to that, and the fact that it is the beginning of a new year, I wish to look back over the past 2 years.

(Side Note: To see a detailed report of 2022, see our post: 2022 Recap - State of TCC and its Ministry Projects)

In the past two years the majority of work, and growth, has been with Prayer Nook. Since Prayer Nook's release in the last quarter of 2020, we have had 628 (573) new members. With those actively using the app, there have been 921 (872) prayer requests made, 4329 (4174) prayers offered for those requests, and 693 (649) journal entries written.* * Number in parentheses are totals for 2021-2022; whereas the other number is from launch date to the end of 2022.

We are also excited for what this year is to bring. 10 years ago on December 21, 2012 we changed our organization structure from an LLC to an Incorporation, brought on our board of directors and submitted our application for 501(c)3 non-profit status. In February 2013 we received our official letter stating that our non-profit status had been approved. (That's right, next month we are celebrating our 10-year anniversary!!!) So, in celebration of 10 years as a non-profit, we have something special planned each month. Make sure to stay tuned to our blog and our social channels to find out what will be announced each month in these letters, starting next month!

Update to this Letter from the Director

Updated: January 30, 2023

After the decision and then the announcement of many exciting new things to happen this year, we started to see an uptick in spiritual attack against the work of our organization.

Within the past few weeks, a cancelation in how one organization provides services to non-profits saw the considerable increase in hosting costs for some of our websites and services if we were to remain with that company. So after 10 years of hosting and directing traffic through various domains for our websites, we had to find a new hosting solution and transfer a lot of data from one service to another. Then a hiccup in the application of a grant from another organization to other web service costs back in November, caused those web services to be halted. This caused three of our largest ministry sites to go down. This had the adverse affect on the majority of our members who utilize Prayer Nook to have to go without that ministry for a considerable amount of time. I am happy to announce though that Prayer Nook is back up and running!!! (Read this blog post for more updated information as things progress: Web Service Interruptions)

I have been working hard to try and guarantee that these situations will not happen again in the future. But, since both these situations arose from grant issues, and we did not have the funds available to allocate to solve the problems faster, we had to make due with the blessings that God did provide to us.

God's Blessings Manifested

In the midst of these trials, we were able to gain the help and resources we needed to move all of our ministry online services to a new platform provided by Microsoft through their Azure services. This guarantee of high-end services mixed with their generous grant to our non-profit means that we do not expect these same types of disruptions that we experienced this past month.

Continued Work Needed

We are continuing to move all of our services over to the new platform and look forward to see how things begin to scale bigger with the additional resources. But, there is still much work needed and additional funds needed in order to accomplish the things we are planning for this year. If you have not already done so, I invite you to become a contributor to the work that God is doing through our ministries here at The Christian Chain. It really only takes a few dollars a month on a consistent basis, from each of our members, to help us budget and keep these ministries alive and working for you all. Please prayerfully consider joining us with your support.

Thank you to all who have been praying for our organization. God is good! And is showing Himself mightily.
